This 1 hour class is designed to be a beginner friendly, relaxing and rejuvenating moving meditation experience, gently guiding participants of all experience levels through a sequence of qi gong practices, “Energy Work/Cultivation”, that have a host of benefits with regular practice.
You’ll learn various short, easy to remember qigong routines that are perfect to learn- and then practice first thing in the morning and throughout your day to vitalize yourself and receive maximum benefits. Outlined below are the various qigong practices we will go through each week.
Each section is comprised of a 5-10 minute long practice that can be practiced all in sequence, like we do in class, or as short standalone practices you can learn with some regular attendance, and practice throughout your day for the rest of your life!
After 18 years of studying with many top Tai Chi and Qi Gong Masters, earning my Masters Degree in Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine, and teaching and practicing in both areas - this class is my distillation of all my experience into a beginner friendly introduction to common foundational qigong practices that will prime students for future learning of Tai Chi, and other more advanced qi gong, and kung fu, as they wish.
As such, this class is designed to be a gentle entry point for people of any physical ability level who may be intimidated to join more rigorous or demanding exercise classes.
Because these exercises improve circulation and function overall, there are numerous benefits associated with regular practice at any age.
Teaching these exercises over the years- many have remarked how they felt like they were re-gaining the function of their bodies with a renewed sense of strength, flexibility, balance, and self-awareness after what they felt like were months or years of self-neglect and not exercising.
Many report less overall aches and pains, improved sleep, improved concentration, and regulation of stress, anxiety, and depression. The exercise is gentle, but definite. Soft, but strong.
You do not need a yoga mat.
The class is intended to be done standing, but there are always variations for sitting practice, and we are wheelchair accessible.
Clean shoes, socks, or bare feet are all fine!
